I would like to introduce everyone to Joan Elser – our first featured Reader of the Month. Joan is a past president of the Dutton Library Board, and she continues to be a board member. Joan was quite pleased that I asked her to be our first featured reader. Her love of books started when she was in high school, and of course she won’t divulge how far back that goes, but I think we will get a good idea in a few more lines.

On Wednesday, the day before the business would be turned over to the new owners, Arne woke up at 2 a.m., went into the bathroom and discovered the water was turned off in the house. Then, when we went to the café at 6 a.m., we discovered the cold water line that feeds the coffee machine had froze because no water was circulating through the pipe; the temperature had dropped to nearly 15 degrees below zero in the region that day, according to the National Weather Service.
The water was eventually turned back on and we solved the problem with the coffee machine by getting another one at home. But just before opening the café an hour later, we discovered the monitor to the gaming machine that we planned to sell to new owners, Jeff Baringer and Rebecca Wakkinen, with the business, was broken.

A Summary of the February Town Council Meeting

The Civic Club received a $1,500 sidewalk grant, bleachers for Parks and Recreation were ordered, the Arbor Day schedule was set and the town needs “Tree Board” volunteers.
The Feb. 5 meeting of the Dutton Town Council was called to order by Mayor Susan Fleshman at 7:30 p.m. at the Dutton Town Hall. Present were council members Dave McDunn, Bob Dauwalder and Tim Tharp as well as Clerk Jean Schoonover, Assistant Clerk Cheri Goss and Nancy Thornton from the Choteau Acantha. Tom DeMars was excused as he was out of town. The minutes of the January meeting were read and approved. The bills were read, reviewed, and approved for payment.
